Relationships are tough.
L and I have always maintained a very loving and supportive marriage. But there was a time way back when we just couldn't seem to get on the same page. It was a difficult time because up until then, we foolishly believed that we, as a couple, were invincible. There was a bit of a struggle to get the motor running again. During that little phase, a book, recommended by a dear friend of ours, clicked us back together. It's been smooth sailing since.
In a nutshell, the theory of Dr. Gary Chapman is that each individual speaks one of the five "love languages." Each type of language gives and receives love a certain type of way. The goal is to find your partner's and your language so you can learn to communicate effectively. It's so good we would recommend it to anyone and everyone: new couples, old couples, unhappy couples, happy couples--everyone will get something out of this.
